Customized Search and Email Gadgets (Blogger)

Around this time last year, I did two tutorials for customizing the search and email gadgets for Blogger. Well today we’re going to bring both of those tutorials into one and update it with some new cool CSS :) So what shall our new search and email gadgets look like? Check it out: Remove Old CSS If you used either of my previous for the search gadget and the email gadget, then we’ll first need to go into your CSS and remove that code. If you’ve never customized the search bar or email gadget, you can skip this step. Hopefully you remember where you pasted the CSS you added before…

Review: Catch Me When I Fall

My Thoughts I loved the description for this book when I first read it. I’ve never read a book before like this with Dreamcatchers and Dreamweavers. In Catch Me When I Fall, the Nightmares are real creatures that the Dreamcatchers fight and kill to protect people while they sleep. I loved the concept of this book and it was an easy book to jump into! Right away, from chapter 1, we get to see Daniel fight off Nightmares. Even when I would set the book down for a time, I could easily start reading again and get into the book. Definite points here for good pacing. “No. They’re actual creatures….

Monthly Recap: December 2014

Wow. SO MUCH HAPPENED THIS DECEMBER! December has been a crazy, stressful month (hence my use of all caps in this post). I don’t think I mentioned it in a previous post, but this past December was my last week of college. I’M A COLLEGE GRADUATE! WHAT EVEN. I always saw myself graduating high school, but finishing college always seemed so far away, even as a college freshman. It feels weird since I’ve been going to school most of my life and now I’m suddenly done. Am I glad to be done with college? HECK YES! I had a bad case of senioritis these past couple months. I was so…

Goals & Resolutions For 2015

2015 seemed so far away last year, and yet this year went by far too quickly. Am I ready for 2015? Gosh I hope so. Looking back on 2014 though, I didn’t really complete too many of my 2014 goals/resolutions. I think I was a bit more active on Twitter this year, but still didn’t tweet as much as I hoped I would. By some miracle I surpassed my goal of reaching 200 followers on Bloglovin (you guys are amazing!). I did discover a lot of new blogs this year, even if I didn’t comment all that often due to busyness. Scheduling posts? Hahahah. That didn’t happen :P Number of…

Customize Post Headings

First of all…MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! I hope everyone is having a great time :D I guess you could say this is my Christmas present to you. I’ve compiled a list of potential heading formatting that you can use in your posts. I used one color for all of these examples, but in the CSS code box, I wrote “COLOR” in the space where you should put your color choice. You can choose colors here: http://www.huecode.com/ All of these heading examples are for h3 tags, but if you want it for a different heading number, just replace that number 3. In Blogger, the “Subheading” is h3. For information on how to…

If Statements in Blogger

The Blogger template may be limited in what it can do, but one great benefit it offers is the use of if statements. Blogger has their own special “if” HTML tag. What are they good for? Well, I often get questions such as, how do I get such and such to only appear on the home page or not appear on the home page? Those if HTML tags will help us accomplish that. Now I’m NOT going to step you through where you need to go to place these if statements, because everyone has a different kind of template and that would take too long. Instead, I’ll show you the…

Discussion: The Seasonal Blogger and Misconceptions

Guess what?!? It’s almost that time of year again! Christmas is coming :D Unfortunately it’s also that time of year when I’m deep into final projects and exams :( However, it’s those two weeks of Christmas break with no homework that makes it all worth it. Thinking about all this free time makes me realize that many people probably start a blog during holidays/breaks from school. I think I shall call them the “seasonal bloggers.” They are seasonal because, after all that free time ends, the busyness of school/work starts up again and then who has time for a blog? We probably don’t even see most of the seasonal bloggers…
