5 Ways to Help Increase Reader Engagement in Your Book Reviews

If you looked over all of the features and categories of your blog, what category would be the most popular, what would receive the most views, and what would receive the most comments? I’m betting that the answer to all of those questions is not the category of book reviews. Book reviews tend to be much lower on the totem pole when it comes to page views and comments. Is there a way we can change that? Yes, but to do so, we need to look at our reviews from our reader’s perspective. Simply typing up some paragraphs isn’t always enough to keep people’s attention nowadays. You need to be…

Looking Back on August 2015 Book Releases

With the busyness of life and blogging, it can be hard to remember everything that has happened in the last month. What books came out? What’s the average rating from goodreads? What did book bloggers feel overall towards that book? Did you miss the release of a book you were planning to read? To help you (and me) remember the past month’s releases, I’ll recap a selection of books from the young adult genre. I’ll include books based on hype, book blogger reviews, mentions on goodreads, and some of my own personal preferences :) Here you can get a quick view into the current goodreads status (at the time of…

Reawakened and the Adventure with a Mummy

Book Overview I mostly liked her I loved his brothers! Very interesting Last two thirds were a page turner Sparkly, but I don’t like the eye   Romance Overview Quick He had a lot of mushy lines Well…she thought he was crazy at first circumstances being what they are… I liked them together   What I Loved I really enjoyed the Egyptian mythology. There are quite a few flash backs to the past where you get a look into why Amon does what he does. I saw some reviews claim the author didn’t do proper research, but they seemed a bit nitpicky and that doesn’t really bother me. The first…

Blogging with a Planner or To-Do List – Which Option is Better?

Do you remember getting agendas at the beginning of each year in high school? I remember my freshmen year of high school and the first time I got an agenda. I didn’t really use it. I just carried it around in my backpack. Fast forward a couple months and I’m somehow forgetting to do some of my English homework. I kid you not, to this day, I remember sitting in that class and remembering, with great shock and worry, that we had an assignment due that day. Why it was just English class, I don’t know, but I really started to worry as my grade dropped to a B-. Something…

6 Authors I Would Auto-Buy From

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/original feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Click the link to go to their site and see the full list. This week’s topic is authors I would auto-buy from. This list is pretty short because I’m picky about what books I add to my tbr shelf. So, while I may love some authors, they wouldn’t be “auto-buy” authors for me. These authors, though, consistently write books that I LOVE! I haven’t read/bought all of the books books by these authors because – so many books, so little time. In no specific order, here are some of my favorite authors. If you haven’t…

Six of Crows and the Impossible Heist

Book Overview I liked Inej best Didn’t notice them Exciting and clever! A bit slow to start THE BEST!   Romance Overview (Nina & Matthias) Slow Burn Not often, but cute Yes > Opposites Attract It won’t be easy Very Cute!   What I Loved All the main characters (maybe not Kaz)! As I said above, Inej(how do you pronounce her name?) was my favorite character. I love how she fights for herself and what she believes in. I’m unsure how I feel about Kaz though. He frustrated me sometimes, but I admired his intelligence and ability to plan for most everything. Cleverness. Kaz’s plans were very clever/crazy. He always…

Weekly Recap: August 2nd – 8th

It’s time for our weekly recap! Every Saturday or Sunday I’ll recap what has been happening in our lives, on our blog, and what you can look forward to for this coming week on our blog…most likely =) In Our Lives This week went by fast! I can’t believe it’s August already. It’s weird not thinking about going back to school now that I’ve graduated. I think the only thing I really miss about college is the sleeping in. Other than that, I’m so glad I won’t be starting school again this fall! Friday I took a vacation day and went to Michigan’s Adventure with my mom and sister! We…
