Review: Entwined

My Thoughts Best. Villain. Ever. “Do you even know the Entwine?” said Flora. Mr. Keeper strode to Azalea, his dark eyes drinking her in. His cloak billowed behind him. “My lady,” he said, without turning his eyes from Azalea, “I invented it.” Keeper was, by far and away, my favorite character in this book. He was a dark and mysterious character. I think I’ve read one too many paranormal romances, because I really liked him with Azalea, or me, until he turned into a crazy man that is. I can’t really talk much on Azalea and Mr. Bradford. It probably didn’t help much that they always referred to him as…

Review: What a Boy Wants

My Thoughts I’m a huge fan of romance and this book definitely had that. This book made me laugh and sigh dreamily throughout the book. I love it when I’m able to find lovey mushy books with the guy’s point of view, even if it may be a bit unrealistic. Early on in the book, Sebastian thinks, “If you asked me, I wasn’t sure it was worth the risk.” “We’re guys. Half the time, we don’t know who we are. It helps things become a lot easier if we know who you are.” This quote pretty much sums up what Sebastian struggles with throughout the story. He struggles with new…

Review: The Treachery of Beautiful Things

My Thoughts This is not a book to judge by its cover. This is not a book about a girl in a pretty white dress that frolics through the forest looking for her long lost brother with the help of the nice little fairies. This book will surprise you if you believed that. However, this book is much better than a story of a girl in a pretty white dress that frolics. The main character, Jenny, is on a dangerous journey through the forest to find her brother, who she believes she saw again after many years. Jenny is brave, kind, and intelligent as she must outsmart powerful foes who…

Review: Touched

My Thoughts I read some reviews for this book on Goodreads who disliked the book because they thought it was like Twilight. I disagree. A lot of people probably go into that mindset because the book covers are similar. Yes the main character does move to a new town and yes it is dangerous for the love interests to be together. However, the characters in this book are not Edward and Bella and thank goodness there isn’t a love triangle. Remy is a great main character who loves her mom and suffers for the people she loves by healing them. She’s a strong character who as endured great hardships, but…

Review: The Scorpio Races

the scorpio races

My Thoughts Maggie Stiefvater does an amazing job with description and developing the setting. Her details make the book come alive and seem original. The capaill uisce, the water horses, are strong and dangerous animals. Most people on the island have lost at least one family member to these horses. The races have become a tradition on the island and the winner earns a large sum of money. Sean and Puck were both likable characters with different motives for wanting to win. Sean lost his father to the Capaill uisce and his mother to the mainland. He has won the races four times and is expected to win again. Puck…
